Clarifix
What are my options for persistent nasal drainage and congestion?
Sometimes medications are insufficient at treating nasal symptoms. Fortunately, we now have minimally invasive in-office procedures for treating allergic and non-allergic rhinitis.
What is Clarifix?
Clarifix is a minimally invasive treatment for chronic nasal drainage which was FDA approved in 2017. This treatment uses cryotherapy (nitrous oxide) to treat the posterior nasal nerve which is located deep in the nose.

How does it work?
By interrupting the signals from this nerve, the tissue reacts differently which leads to less stuffiness and congestion. Best of all, the treatment can be performed in the office under local anesthesia with quick recovery. Patients can go back to their normal activities right away and start to notice benefit in 2-6 weeks.
How effective is it?
Studies show that 80% of patients have about 50% less congestion, drainage, and sneezing. Though is a fairly new procedure, data shows that many patients have continued benefit for years.
Is it safe?
The most common side effects associated with ClariFix Cryotherapy are temporary increased congestion and transient pain or discomfort. In a clinical study, the ClariFix device was found to be well-tolerated with no device or procedure-related serious adverse events.
Where can I go for this treatment?
Dr Golgert was the first doctor to perform this procedure in the office in the Central Coast.
